The Batman is returning to theaters for one day in August alongside an exclusive sneak peek of The Penguin, the upcoming spinoff featuring Colin Farrell set between the first and second film of the Batman Epic Crime Saga.
Warner Bros. announced that The Batman will return to select theaters in the U.S. for "one special night" on August 28, with international theaters getting the release "on or near that date." The screening will include a special look at the making of The Penguin, which is set to debut on September 19 on Max.
According to the official release, the sneak peek will include "insights from series star Colin Farrell, executive producers Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Lauren LeFranc, who also writes and serves as showrunner, and Craig Zobel, who also directed the first three episodes."
The announcement comes ahead of today's Warner Bros. Discovery earnings, which will be released this afternoon. During San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Bros. offered a deep dive look into The Penguin, including a trailer revealing how it will capture the vibe of The Godfather and The Sopranos in Gotham City.
Tear down the empire from the inside out.

The screening will be a helpful refresher for fans of The Batman, which was released in 2022. We awarded the Robert Pattinson's turn as the Caped Crusader a perfect 10 in our review, writing, "The Batman is a gripping, gorgeous, and, at times, genuinely scary psychological crime thriller that gives Bruce Wayne the grounded detective story he deserves."
Since then, Matt Reeves has confirmed more movies are in the works, though they won't be part of James Gunn's DCU, which was Reeves' choice. The Batman 2 is currently set to release on October 2, 2026 after being delayed out of 2025.
