It’s with irony the very American Netflix series Stranger Things received a stage play only available to watch in London, but that’s the case no longer. Stranger Things: The First Shadow comes to the U.S. in 2025.
A trailer revealed the play comes to the Marquis Theatre on New York’s Broadway beginning March 28, 2025, with presale being made available September 13 and tickets fully going on sale a few days later on September 17.
The trailer flashed through shots from the UK production, which has been available in London’s West End since December 2023. It’s a prequel story focused on Henry Creel, better known as Vecna, when he and his family first moved to Hawkins, Indiana, in 1959.
“Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously, and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town,” reads the plot synopsis.
“When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.”
The First Shadow will perhaps tide over fans hotly anticipating the fifth and final season of Stranger Things on Netflix. It doesn’t yet have a release date, but as it featured heavily during Netflix’s Geeked Week in July 2024, the streaming service is likely building up to a reveal soon.
