Pokémon Teams Up With Wallace and Gromit Studio for Mystery Project

The Pokémon Company has teamed up with Aardman, the British stop motion animation studio behind Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, for a mystery project.

As reported by Variety, the "special project" will bring Aardman's "unique style of storytelling to the Pokémon universe in brand-new adventures." A release window of 2027 was set but it's unclear if the project is a film or TV series or something else.

"This is a dream partnership for Pokémon," The Pokémon Company International's VP of marketing and media Taito Okiura said. "Aardman are masters of their craft, and we have been blown away by their talent and creativity. What we have been working on together ensures our global Pokémon fans are in for a treat."

The project therefore appears to be very much in the style of the likes of Wallace and Gromit, a long-running British comedy series created using clay-like stop motion animations.

"Bringing together Pokémon, the world’s biggest entertainment brand, together with our love of craft, character and comedic storytelling feels incredibly exciting," said Aardman managing director Sean Clarke.

Pokémon is one of the biggest franchises in the world and has had an animated series attached from the beginning, but The Pokémon Company has expanded into myriad other entertainment avenues in recent years.

It created an animated series about playing with Pokémon cards, for example, and has even already done a stop motion series on Netflix called Pokémon Concierge.
